Narrowed topic, audience, thesis statement, organization

The first part of this blog is about the topic of my research paper. I have been narrowing my topic the last couple of weeks. I am researching gambling. More specifically I am researching the pros and cons of gambling. I think that this topic is narrow enough for my research paper. I want to focus on the positive and negative effects that come from gambling. I have been researching gambling and in many of the sources that I have come across, these sources discuss the pros and cons of having gambling and casinos in certain communities. My audience for this paper would be people that are interested in finding out more information about gambling. Many people will be able to relate to this topic because it is a controversial topic that many people are concerned about. The audience will be interested in finding out the positive and negative effects that come from gambling and casinos. The next part of this blog is going to be about my tentative thesis statement for my research paper on gambling. I have not thought too much about what my thesis statement will be, but I know that I want to include something about the positive and negative effects of gambling on communities. My thesis statement would start out by saying that gambling is a controversial topic that has many positive and negative effects on communities. I am working on making a better, stronger thesis statement for my paper. As for the organization of my paper, I briefly discussed this in my last blog two weeks ago. I will have a strong introduction paragraph introducing my topic followed by several body paragraphs that support my thesis statement. I would then end my paper with a conclusion that summarizes the points made in the paper. I am working on writing this paper.
